Translating the vision of Enphase into a mobile road show experience
Client • Enphase Energy Europe
Year • 2023
Role • Lead Designer
Scope • Mobile Fair Design, Brand Communication, Product Design, Brand experience
Duration • 3 Months
Executive Summary
Enphase Energy is a global leader in solar, energy storage and smart home technologies.
To present their latest innovations across multiple European industry events, the goal was to develop a modular exhibition system that communicates the brand’s technological leadership while remaining highly portable and efficient to deploy.
The resulting roadshow setup was designed as a robust, modular display system that can be easily transported, assembled and disassembled while maintaining a premium brand presence.
Challenge
Design a modular exhibition system that integrates multiple technology components and digital displays while remaining compact enough to be transported in mobile crates - without compromising on visual quality, brand presence or ease of assembly.
Responsibilities
Led the design and development of a modular exhibition system for Enphase Europe
Managed a small design team and worked closely with European project management and marketing stakeholders of Enphase.
Responsible for concept development, spatial design and visual storytelling of the product displays
Oversaw the translation of complex energy technologies into clear, engaging exhibition experiences
Objective
Create a modular roadshow exhibition system that showcases Enphase’s latest solar and energy storage technologies while reinforcing the brand’s positioning as an innovative leader in clean energy solutions.
Solution
The main exhibition system was designed as a set of four modular display units constructed from solid oak frames with integrated indirect lighting.
Mounted on anthracite panels, the installations provide strong contrast while highlighting the technological components.
The units integrate physical product displays, digital screens and tablets for interactive explanations and video presentations.
All elements can be packed into custom wooden transport crates and moved using standard trolleys, enabling efficient logistics for multi-city events.
Mounted objects are:
Displays to show explainatory videos
iPad to display apps for homeowner control
Microinverters (and how they are mounted to rails)
Enphase IQ Batteries
Internal wiring
The modules are constructed from solid oak, creating a warm and natural aesthetic. Integrated LED strips within the frame provide ambient illumination while subtly referencing Enphase’s core theme: energy.
The technical components are highlighted by back plates marked in brand colors to reduce technical overload and add guidance and clarity. Also they are mounted on an anthracite background to enhance contrast and visibility while reinforcing the premium appearance of the modules.
The entire system
In addition to the wooden modules, we designed a set of compressible branded elements to support navigation and ensure clear brand presence across different event environments.
Outcome & Learnings
Outcome
Fully functional and modular exhibition system which was on the road across Europe for several months.
Key learnings
Designing modular systems allows brands to maintain a consistent and high-quality presence across multiple events while remaining efficient in logistics and setup.
Exhibition systems are not only functional structures but an opportunity to translate complex technologies into intuitive and engaging brand experiences.
The combination of solid oak, ambient lighting and clean technical displays helped bridge Enphase’s identity between advanced technology and sustainable energy.
Designing for fast assembly and transport significantly improves the practicality of exhibition systems for teams working across multiple locations.
Integrating physical products with screens, tablets and explanatory media enables layered communication and improves audience understanding of complex technologies.
